Humility Getting It All Together
Wednesday October 8, 2014

A humble person acknowledges that they need help in various areas of their life and they are more interested in getting well and being healthy than they are about appearing to “have it all together” or “doing it all on my own.”
Humble people realize that they make mistakes. They don’t cover up the mistakes, they don’t justify them and they don’t wallow in self-hatred because of them. Humble people simply acknowledge their shortcomings and ask our loving God to do whatever it takes to remove them. One of the problems they are willing to address is not being aware of what their mistakes are. Humble people willingly allow a loving God to point out anything in their lives that might harm their relationship with Him, with themselves, and with others. Humble people recognize that they have blind spots and they desire to have the light of truth remove those blind spots.

Investigate my life, O God, find out everything about me; Cross-examine and test me, get a clear picture of what I’m about; See for yourself whether I’ve done anything wrong— then guide me on the road to eternal life. (Psalm 139:23-24 MSG)
A humble person opens the door to God's forgiveness, healing, and rebuilding every time the need for it becomes evident. If we claim we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves and not living in the truth. But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness. (1 John 1:8-9 NLT)

Humble people are grateful people. They acknowledge that they can’t do life on their own. They leave their stubborn pride behind, come close to God who alone can save them and restore them, and choose to experience life as God presents it in His word.
God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble. So humble ourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up in honor. (James 4:6-8, 10 NLT)
Let's walk humbly with our God today and enjoy the peace and joy of a day well lived.
