Prayer To Establish and Practice Good Daily Habits During the COVID-19 Pandemic
It's a wonderful habit to pray God's Word back to Him. We reaffirm our trust in Him and give Him opportunity to let His word be live in us. So, focus on verses from Psalm 37 allow His blessing to be poured out into our lives through them. Let's pray.
Heavenly Father,
We're grateful for Your Word and how fresh and meaningful it is to us every day. You keep things simple and invite us to live in the peace and security of uncomplicated lives. All You ask us to do is to trust You and live right. So, that's where we want to begin our prayer with You today. We recommit ourselves to trusting You and as You show us what to do, we'll align our thoughts and actions with that. Thank you for the safety and the provision of what we need when we do that. You know our hearts, our hopes and our dreams, our worries and our wonderings, and we entrust all of that to Your care today.
We are aware that we don't know the best way forward because we don't know what the future holds. We can only look back and see where we have been and that's not so helpful in knowing the way to go. But, You are trustworthy to show us the way and to take our hand and lead us. And so today, in this "new normal" that has many uncertainties and lots of unknowns, we put hour hand in yours and trust You to lead us and to help us. Give us ears to hear and eyes to see what You are showing us. Help us to quiet our minds and still our hearts to have good times of communication with You. We know You invite us to speak with You but we also know that we need to get quiet and pay attention to Your voice too. So would You even help us to come to that place of attentiveness where we want so much to know what You are showing that we give you our full focus.
We've been caught up for too long in the consumer society that convinces us that we need so much more than what we actually do. Whatever the future holds for us financially, we want to be those who live for Your kingdom and do Your will. We may not have as many possessions or the latest techie tools, but we know that we will have what is good and what fills our hearts with a sense of contentment when we live right. Forgive us for the over-dependence we have on having a certain amount of money or certain possessions in order to feel secure. Help us to let go of the worries we carry when our situation changes. You are the one who supplies our need. We'll be responsible but then we also want take our hands off the controls and let You manage our finances.
What better place could we be in than in Your care, Lord. Everything You give us lasts forever.
We know you told us not to put our treasure where moth and rust can destroy them and thieves break in and steal but rather to store up our treasure in heaven and when we do that, our heart will be filled with peace and joy because where our treasure is, that's where our heart will be as well. Help us not so much to look at eternity through the eyes of what we see but to see what's going on around us through the lens of the timeless truths and promises of our God who has given us eternal life.
So, even though we are still in this season of COVID-19 restrictions, we go forward with settledness and confidence with You God. One step at a time we will navigate today and all will be well. Even if we stumble over something, we know You will hold us up and we will be able to just keep on going. There is joy in the journey when we walk with You God. There is peace. There is rest for our souls. Thanks for one more day to journey with You. Amen
