When Jesus knew his disciples would soon experience deep grief as they observed His own suffering and death on the cross, He was concerned for them, as He is for us when we go through grievous troubles and severe trials. Jesus' dear friend, John, tells us how Jesus prayed for their needs at that time:
I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever— the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. (John 14:16-18 NIV).

Over and over again in our daily lives we are faced with difficult news and challenging circumstances. Our way of seeing life is jolted and we often feel as though our world has been shoved off it's foundation a bit. It is during these uncertain times that we need the clear and compassionate wisdom God offers us. Jesus prayed that his friends would have wise counsel to accompany them every day of their lives so they wouldn’t be alone to figure out truth and He continues to pray the same for you and me today.

Will we receive what God is giving or will we struggle along on our own?
