Hope For Today Videos

As we conclude our walk through the very special prayer of Jesus we find in John 17 our focus today is on what makes life real and full - and that is to glorify God today and enjoy Him forever. 

Never has our world seemed more divided – white and black, rich and poor, male and female, young and old, ethnic group against ethnic group, left wing versus right wing political parties … and on and on. Into this very bleak environment Jesus’ prayer for unity rings out with tenderness and invitation. Let’s join Jesus in that prayer today.

Well, we are slowly working our way through the very special words we have in the Bible in John 17 – words Jesus used in praying to His Father that offer us a wonderful way we too can speak with God. Today we focus on staying true with our words and action regardless of what's going on around us.

As we continue to use the words of Jesus very personal prayer to His father, we pray with confidence today for God’s protection and joy.

Today we continue to look at the very personal words of Jesus as He prayed to His Heavenly Father not long before He suffered and died on our behalf. We know Jesus one longing above all others was to live in a way that would please His Father and give honour to Him. Let's look at what Jesus prayed.

There’s something very personal and helpful to hear Jesus talk to His Father. I’m blessed by the wonderful things He prayed that You and I would experience, but also by His tender and trusting open hearted expressions of faith and trust.

Relationships – so precious and also so challenging. There are always two partners in every relationship and each has a part to play in what goes well and when things go wrong.  To maintain a good relationship or to build back better after a breakdown it takes willingness and hard work from both partners.

Rigorous honesty – it’s what is asked of individuals in recovery programs and it is what the Bible is clearly noted for.

Jesus is so challenging for us in how He lives and then calls us to follow in always seeking the good of others. We’ll never get there on our own but God is more than willing to walk with us and show us the way.

Peace is something that we usually have to go after because there are challenges to it

There is something so energizing and life giving to quiet our hearts, read or hear something from God’s Word, maybe take a few moments to reflect on what it means for us personally, and then have a conversation with God about it.

News events in these days bring into sharp focus that anger and hatred that so many seem to be filled with as opinions and convictions about numerous issues come into focus. Differences of opinion and conviction come into view. But we must remember this:  hateful angry sarcastic speech and acts of violence are not God’s way.
