God is always with me. I need never face my problems alone. Together with God, any difficulty can be worked out and overcome.

Low self-esteem is a negative sense of one's worth or ability to cope or do well in life. There's plenty of literature that links bad habits, relationship problems, even substance abuse with low self-esteem. What does God, the one who made us and who planned a meaningful and satisfying life for us, have to say about our self-worth?

Today is “International Women’s Day.” Well, thankfully, we don’t need the events of this day to experience the wonderful value God created us to have as women. Not only are both male and female created in the image of God but they are both assigned the management and care of all God has created.

We all feel hungry sometimes, probably more often than we wish. God wants us to recognize our true hunger and come to Him for the good things we need to satisfy the craving.

The God who created this earth and put natural laws in place has also given us spiritual laws that are in operation. Getting to know God’s spiritual laws for us is important to our own growth and development.  To flourish we have to live according to truth  rather than trying to go against it.

God invites all of us, every day and in every situation to a lifestyle of gentleness where we honour truth, respect the dignity of everyone – including ourselves, and delight in the joy and wonder of each new day.

From our earliest childhood days we’ve heard fantasies and stories of people as they encounter a genie -Aladdin’s genie in a bottle - and get one wish or three wishes granted and the results that follow.  What would you or I ask for if we had one wish today?

We were created as wonderfully complex human beings.  That doesn’t mean we are complicated but rather that there are layers of individual ways of experiencing life that makes us the amazing people we are, able to bring joy and interest to our relationships. The problem is, life feels complicated sometimes and we don’t always know how to sort ourselves out.  We need to regularly be in touch with folks who have experiences that can inform us and advice that can help us.

God cares about our suffering and promises to be with us in it and over and over again we’ve experienced His healing help.  However, change and healing don’t often come instantly and so another way God helps us is to invite us to keep in perspective whatever way we are suffering today.

Who of us understands why we think and feel and react the way we do?  Life seems to be going along relatively well and then something “out-of-the-blue” happens and our emotions are tipped over the edge or our thoughts go into negative overdrive. We think, say, or do things that are ugly and so far from what we long to do.  Ask us to explain why we did it and we often can’t even tell you. The Bible tells us to: Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life. How do we do that?

We often wonder what the right course of action is and can become confused and anxious. God has very simple instructions for us to refocus us and steady us: Trust in the Lord and do good.

The best invitation we will ever receive is the one to follow the way of Jesus and to allow His grace and character to be more and more reflected in all we do and say. God invites us to leave all manner of ugliness behind – which is a good thing to do in itself – I mean, who wants the ugly dirty bits?  But, then on top of that God describes so many promises of blessing that will result.
