News events in these days bring into sharp focus that anger and hatred that so many seem to be filled with as opinions and convictions about numerous issues come into focus. Differences of opinion and conviction come into view. But we must remember this:  hateful angry sarcastic speech and acts of violence are not God’s way.

During times of great trouble and stress and challenge we need to lift up our lives and our hearts to God, trusting in God's goodness.  To the average onlooker it might seem like we have been abandoned to our troubles and that there’s no hope for us.  But that is NOT the case.

What kind of commitment are we willing to make to God today and then work to keep - always, to the very end?

We experience true freedom when we have a clean slate with God.  When we humbly admit our faults and sins to God, with a sincere desire to be changed, God is faithful to forgive us.

Not only are all the things God says trustworthy and useful for making us wise but they refresh us.  And underneath all God’s words are His character.

At times we may focus more on what we have had to let go of rather than on what we have received. We need to change our thought patterns and focus on those things which build us up and encourage us to move forward with God.

God wants us to learn today that in the middle of challenges, if we make a choice to trust a good God, and hold onto hope in His promises, we will endure and we will come out of the experience as better people.

Many people have never been disciplined in the art of following through on the commitments they make. They start something and then get tired when it takes more effort than they are willing to give.  Thankfully, God has operated with us on a very different basis.

It’s good to keep in mind that God has plans and purposes for us in each season and as we discover what they are and put them into practice, our lives will not only have stabilizing routines but we will experience real satisfaction and joy.

With all the complicated issues, we face, we often don’t know how to pray and yet that is exactly what we need to do, the best thing we can do. How do we pray when we don’t know how to pray?

A person with a mature character is one who depends on the strength of God’s love and care in them and is not shoved about by what people say or do or fail to do.  God’s strong love that He is offering us today in generous measure is enough for us to be able to think and act and speak in the best ways that brings joy to God’s heart and blessing to others.

We take time to read God’s Word each day because we want the truth of God to seep into our souls and go deeply into our being. Sometimes we have to slow down and read and reread and think about what we’ve read in order for the words to actually touch our hearts and do us some good. We get the most out of our time when we ask God’s Spirit to speak to us about it each time we read it.
