Hope For Today Videos

God knows everything that’s going on and He’s doing so much behind the scenes that makes His answer to our requests so much fuller and better than and instantaneous snap-your-fingers kind of response.

Let’s not just know that God hears and answers prayers but let’s take the opportunity to be specific with God about what we are facing.  We’ll have a better day if we do.

Today I thought we might reflect briefly on Jesus’ mother.  She trusted God in spite of not really understanding all that was involved in the angel’s announcement to her that she would be the mother of Jesus, the Messiah.

Thinking and acting on our own self-centered thoughts often results in confusion and grief. Too often when we choose to follow our familiar selfish ways and ignore the guidance of the Holy Spirit we end up in despair. On the other hand, when we walk surrendered to, and empowered by, the Holy Spirit we experience more and more confidence and hope.

I don’t think God cares how we seek to connect with Him - if it is a thought, a whisper, a shout, a groan, a sigh – anything that asks God to come and be with us and act on our behalf.  He’s so generous and so willing when we come to Him in trust and faith.

God invites us today to remember that God goes before us and is with us.  We can still our hearts an quiet our minds because He will never leave us nor forsake us. 

Maintaining our life with God also takes time and effort. The habits and disciplines we practice need to be consistently carried on if we are to grow and mature. 

I'm so grateful that the God we serve and to whom we bring the issues of our lives before, is a God whose ways are entirely just, a faithful God, without prejudice.  And not only that but a God who is full of mercy and grace.

We live in uncertain times and I’m grateful today that in the middle of the many uncertainties and unknowns there is so much that we do know that has stood the test of time and which will carry us through. The Word of God is tried and true and appropriate for every situation we find ourselves in.

We need courage and self-control today to face the tasks before us of building life according to God's plan. Let’s be people who believe God, trust God, and find the success He promises. 

What does it mean to practice hospitality of the heart even during times when the words and actions of others that are quite different from ours get on our nerves a bit?

In this age of media that has so much content that is not of the character and morals that reflect God’s heart and ways, I’m asking myself how my viewing of these things is impacting how my life can be a light.
