Hope For Today Videos

Some familiar words that remind us of ways that God wants to keep us safe today.

There’s nothing more satisfying than finishing a job and having someone say, “What a good job!”  Regardless of the area, whether in the trades or the arts, when someone performs well it brings joy to more than just themselves. As we walk with God and follow His will for our lives, He promises to give us everything we need so this experience of doing a good job can be ours.

Who of us hasn't felt pressured recently – maybe even today?  There are so many demands on our time and attention, so many uncertainties in our world, and so much we don't know about what we need to do to be safe and successful. How does God want us to deal with pressures?

The Bible speaks about our friends sharpening us when it says: As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend. Proverbs 27:17 Just as the different slots on a knife sharpener perform different functions that are equally necessary to have a sharp knife, so we need different kinds of input from our friends.

God is always with me. I need never face my problems alone. Together with God, any difficulty can be worked out and overcome.

Low self-esteem is a negative sense of one's worth or ability to cope or do well in life. There's plenty of literature that links bad habits, relationship problems, even substance abuse with low self-esteem. What does God, the one who made us and who planned a meaningful and satisfying life for us, have to say about our self-worth?

Today is “International Women’s Day.” Well, thankfully, we don’t need the events of this day to experience the wonderful value God created us to have as women. Not only are both male and female created in the image of God but they are both assigned the management and care of all God has created.

We all feel hungry sometimes, probably more often than we wish. God wants us to recognize our true hunger and come to Him for the good things we need to satisfy the craving.

The God who created this earth and put natural laws in place has also given us spiritual laws that are in operation. Getting to know God’s spiritual laws for us is important to our own growth and development.  To flourish we have to live according to truth  rather than trying to go against it.

God invites all of us, every day and in every situation to a lifestyle of gentleness where we honour truth, respect the dignity of everyone – including ourselves, and delight in the joy and wonder of each new day.

From our earliest childhood days we’ve heard fantasies and stories of people as they encounter a genie -Aladdin’s genie in a bottle - and get one wish or three wishes granted and the results that follow.  What would you or I ask for if we had one wish today?

We were created as wonderfully complex human beings.  That doesn’t mean we are complicated but rather that there are layers of individual ways of experiencing life that makes us the amazing people we are, able to bring joy and interest to our relationships. The problem is, life feels complicated sometimes and we don’t always know how to sort ourselves out.  We need to regularly be in touch with folks who have experiences that can inform us and advice that can help us.
