Meditations on "Dysfunction"

From the chaos of our dysfunctional lives many of us called out to God with words like, “God if you are really there, please help me”.

When we are recovering from our addictive lifestyle we often do not feel like singing.

God is faithful to us. God has also given us many practical commands for faithfulness in our service to others including our spouse, our friends, and those who are suffering.

As humans, we tend to base our security on the depth of our personal relationships with those around us.

My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience.

This is the day the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it.

Some of us, when we get over the celebration of Christmas and New Year, may start to wonder what it was all about.

Some of us may have awakened this morning to the fact that our lives are unmanageable and that we are powerless over our addictive behaviour.

As we consider our future, we need to take time to reflect on where we have been and where we want to go from here.

As we prepare our hearts for the celebration of Christ’s birth, some of us may have negative memories and regrets about past Christmases.

God's kingdom runs on the law of love and peace. It really does!

Life in recovery can be challenging at times. We have joy in the fact that we are no longer in the pit of our addiction, but, we are now treading waters that are unfamiliar to us.
