Meditations on "Lies"

Our experience in addiction has taught us that it’s easier and more convenient to lie rather than tell the truth.

Telling the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, seems almost impossible in today’s culture and yet this is the path God points us to as we seek a satisfying and stable life in recovery.

Gossip shows up in our lives in many forms. God hates them all because He knows how harmful destructive words are to our dignity and our relationships.

Individuals leaving addiction behind and entering into life with God in recovery often use the Twelve Steps of AA to help them sort through their issues.

“Practice makes perfect.” We hear that from athletes, rock stars, tradesmen, and even the guy down the street as he flies by on his longboard.

Movie producers know all about veils. If they want to hide something from view, they simply match the colour of the object to the colour of a filter (veil) they have previously put over the camera lens.

Yesterday we looked at five false beliefs many people hold and today we are adding five more.

What lies have we told ourselves and believed? What lies have others told us that we believed?

Truth stands the test of time; lies are soon exposed.

When stressful situations come our way, and Jesus told us they will, let’s make a conscious effort to turn to God and seek His help.
