Meditations on "Temptation"

In present day society we hear so much profanity in music, in movies, on the street, and in print that it almost seems the normal way to talk.

Jesus said: In this world you will have trouble. But take heart!

In recent weeks we have heard of several decisions from the Supreme Courts of both Canada and the United States which will have an impact on the way life is shaped in each country.

The Bible tells us that when God's Spirit lives in us, our lives will demonstrate it by qualities such as love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness gentleness and self-control.

We may be searching for shortcuts to happiness. The road of life often takes us through painful places we would rather avoid.

Who are we? How do we see ourselves today? If we let the things of the past continue to shape who we are, then we are clinging to our old self and at some point we are vulnerable to relapse.

Sharing our lives means that we look for a person we can respect to accompany us on our spiritual journey.

Doubt and darkness begin to settle on us when we begin to think that God is not coming through and that we are not getting what we think we deserve.

God invites us to life, a life that is wonderful and filled with many beautiful and satisfying gifts.

Many people face temptation by hoping that it will just disappear.

The ultimate lie of Satan is to get us to believe that we are God.

There are many ways friends encourage each other and bring out the best in one another.
