Meditations on "Inventory"

The longer we are in sobriety the more we recognize that we have lots to learn.

We all know that our thoughts and emotions significantly impact our health.

It’s a useful practice to take regular inventory of our lives.

The 12-Step Road often seems a long and winding one to us and some of us think we can reach our destination by taking shortcuts that are more agreeable.

In the prayer Jesus taught His friends when they asked Him how to pray there is a line that says, "Your kingdom come.

In Step-6 we say we are entirely ready to have God remove all the character defects we have listed in our fearless moral inventory.

When we come to Step 4 in the 12-Step program we are asked to focus on ourselves and make a searching and fearless moral inventory.

Every day of our lives, and especially when we come into recovery, we need the healing power of God to bring us to new life.

Rudeness shows itself in our speech and actions towards others.

When we say in Step 12 that we have had a spiritual wakening, we are describing the impact we have experienced as we’ve completed the first eleven steps.

Too often dealing with denial is incorrectly focused on the circumstances surrounding the use of our substance of choice or other destructive habits for which we are now seeking treatment and God’s help to overcome.

As we read the words of Jesus in the Bible, we will see that He often makes reference to earthly things in order to illustrate how precious our relationship is with Him.
