Meditations on "Recovery"

In addiction we were often unfaithful to our promises.

God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.

God invites us to joy and peace, to forgiveness and a loving relationship.

Just for today I will be unafraid, believing that as I trust in God with all my heart and lean not on my own understanding, He will lead me along a good path.

The experience of life outside the will and care of God is helplessness and frustration when trials and temptations come our way.

In recovery meetings we’ve heard some people tell “war stories” that made us cringe and which may have triggered something negative in all of us who were listening.

All of us are vulnerable to relapse when we are feeling lonely, frustrated or dissatisfied with life.

There is a saying that “money makes the world go around.

O God have mercy on me, for people are hounding me.

Tony Bennet sang a song, “If I Ruled the World”.

At some point in our lives we came to an understanding that we could not continue as we were.

At many points in our recovery journey the character defect of evasiveness may begin to surface.
