Meditations on "Recovery"

Addictions and dependencies are not just alcohol and street drugs.

Addiction affects the whole person – physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, and social.

Jesus told the story of a Samaritan who helped a Jewish person who had been robbed, beaten and left half dead.

The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you; the LORD turn his face toward you and give you peace.

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast.

What’s the “good news” of life that God has awakened in me?

TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 13, 2012 – STEP 12 – CARRYING THE MESSAGE What’s the “good news” of life that God has awakened in me?

Why do we make prayer, meditation, and seeking God’s will a part of our recovery program?

Step Nine: We made direct amends to such people wherever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others.

Step Eight – We made a list of all persons we had harmed, and became willing to make amends to all.

Step 6: We were entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of character.

STEP 5 – We admitted to God, to ourselves, and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs.
