Meditations on "Recovery"

In the Bible Jesus told a story of three servants who were given various amounts of money to use or invest on behalf of their master.

“I am a walking miracle” is a slogan we often hear said in recovery meetings.

When we come into recovery, we are usually immature in our knowledge of God and his ways and have little recall of what it is like to live a meaningful life.

We come into recovery because we recognize we are powerless over addictive substances, people, or things that we have become dependent on to sustain life as we know it.

God has given gifts to everyone; no one has been left out.

When problems arise it's easy to forget that God cares about us.

Life is a journey and from its beginning to its end we are all influenced by the environment we live in.

The new birth we receive when we give our will and life over to the care of God is also the end of our old life dominated by sinful thoughts formed in an unspiritual mind.

How many times in our addictive lifestyle were people looking for us, seeking to do us harm?

Who wants trouble? None of us do and if we listen to God’s counsel there’s a lot of trouble that we can avoid.
