Meditations on "Relationship"

Many of us face a new year wondering about the unknown.

After all the hype and preparation for Christmas we now get back to quieter days before the New Year celebration.

Jesus is born – born for us. The God who created heaven and earth put on flesh and was born in humble circumstances so we could experience love and find hope for a relationship with God that lasts forever.

The very heart of God is enduring love, and nothing will ever change that.

What came first, the chicken or the egg? When we called out to God in our powerlessness, did we suddenly show up on His “locating system” or was He already waiting for us to call so He could help us?

We all know that staying sober starts with not picking up a drink or our drug of choice, or returning to whatever our destructive habit was.

Meditating on God’s word in the Bible and prayer to our Heavenly Father are positive daily habits that help us rebuild our lives.

Forgiveness happens when a person willingly forgives the wrongs that have been committed against them by another.

Many people who choose for life with God in recovery think they can live any way they want as long as they attend meetings, complete an honest set of steps, pray on occasion, and don't pick up.

Addiction is a disease of isolation. That’s not news to those of us who have spent time there.

We all long for the joy and comfort of being in a loving intimate relationship with another.

Once we have cleaned up our lives from all past involvement in destructive and addictive practices we are home free for a life of joy and peace and blessing, right?
