Meditations on "Surrender"

In recovery circles there is a saying, “You are only as sick as your secrets.

All of humankind’s sin – from the beginning to the end of time – was laid on Jesus and not even the weight of that could hold him down.

We often give up on God before His plan for us, in His perfect timing, takes effect.

From cover to cover the Bible is filled with wisdom and good direction for our lives.

When we admitted that our lives had become unmanageable, many of us entered into detox and then treatment programs where we found support Each day we grew stronger.

Of all the four seasons of the year, spring seems to describe our new life in recovery the best.

Seasons change. The temperature warms up. The grass begins to grow again.

We usually say an individual is “white knuckling” when they are just using willpower to stay sober.

Jesus came to earth when the nation of Israel was ruled by Rome.

It does not take much time in recovery for us to realize how much better life can be than we ever thought possible.

To stop using our substance of choice is a great beginning in recovery but God knows that unless we deal with the underlying root of our habits and addictive practices, we will remain doomed for failure.

When we come to God and admit that we are helpless to live life on our own and choose to surrender our will and life into His care, we are born again to a new life.
