Meditations on "Wisdom"

Political leaders have come and gone. Sometimes we like those who have been elected to power and other times we wonder what happened on the campaign trail.

Some of us may have awakened this morning to the fact that our lives are unmanageable and that we are powerless over our addictive behaviour.

Many of us face a new year wondering about the unknown.

Favor with God is a special blessing of God to us. It releases an attraction within us that others are drawn to, empowering them to become willing to cooperate with us in those things we are planning to do.

Step 11: We sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God, as we understood Him, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry it out.

In some situations, our future well-being may seem to depend on resolving a problem that is totally outside of our control.

Sorting out what went wrong in our lives and getting it written down in Step Four has already been a challenging and painful process.

There is a good reason why so many folks both early in recovery and well on their journey find themselves repeating the Serenity Prayer when they bump into life situations that seem overwhelming.

Day after day, in recovery meetings and elsewhere, we pray these words: “God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

The seasons are changing. A few days ago we officially moved from summer to autumn.

Hear this, all you peoples; listen, all who live in this world, both low and high, rich and poor alike: My mouth will speak words of wisdom; the meditation of my heart will give you understanding.

It’s time to live as honourable people. A life of honour begins by choosing to be the people God says we are in Jesus Christ.
