Recovery Meditations

We live in difficult days. Jesus knows what we need.

Wise words bring many benefits, and hard work brings rewards.

When Jesus knew his disciples would soon experience deep grief as they observed His own suffering and death on the cross, He was concerned for them, as He is for us when we go through grievous troubles and severe trials.

Another area where we might need to examine our conscience is in the “truthfulness” of our culture’s values and messages to us.

As with anything new we are seeking to establish in our lives, we need to recognize that there is a learning curve in distinguishing between the Holy Spirit’s voice and our own old way of thinking.

In recovery we learn new ways of looking at things, new ways of responding to issues and new guidelines for making decisions.

Many people become perfectionists and labor under condemnation even though the Bible says there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:1 NIV).

What am I doing to renew my conscience so it is a trustworthy mirror of the Holy Spirit’s voice?
