Meditations on "Powerless"

Why do we continue to do things our own way when it obviously isn’t working?

In sharing our recovery journey at meetings, we often look to the model of "what life was like in addiction, what happened, and what does life look like now.

God’s Word often speaks about our enemies, and these are the “enemies of our soul.

To some degree all of us rely on ourselves to do those things that are important for life and happiness.

Most of us think that had we never known adversity and heartache, we would be living happy and contented lives today.

The Bible is a wonderful source of support for us and tells us of many situations where Jesus showed compassion to those He encountered.

When sharing our recovery journey at meetings we often reflect on what life was like in addiction, what happened, and what life looks like now.

In the Big Book of AA, we are advised to use discretion in knowing how much time and attention to give to any one person or situation.

It takes courage to live in recovery. Admitting that our lives were unmanageable and that we were powerless to sort ourselves out took real courage.

If we are determined to do our own thing, God will allow us to make bad choices.

"Live and let live" is one of those slogans that encourage us to consider if our desire for control is becoming an issue we need to deal with.

We lost our way. That is an obvious fact. We fell into addictive and destructive lifestyles.
