Meditations on "Recovery"

Everyday life has it challenges but each day is also filled with many simple pleasures.

Broken relationships are a significant issue in most relapses back into active addiction.

Each of us who have given our will and life over to the care of God may doubt that God has the power to help us overcome our powerlessness over our dependencies.

The Bible makes it clear that God detests lying. In our addiction, most of the time, we did not speak the truth.

Many of us suffer from low self-esteem. This disorder comes directly from the enemy of our souls.

Living a life of goodness, peace, and joy reflects the Kingdom of God within us.

Living with God in recovery often presents difficult challenges such as: waiting for something we feel desperately in need of right now; not retaliating with anger when someone harms us; living with less when we could scam our way into having more; facing the consequences of revealing a difficult truth.

Just for today I will take note of one helpful thing God is saying to me and seek to behave accordingly.

God is willing, and more than able, to remove all our defects of character if we humbly ask Him.

In our addiction, the substance or habit we used to help numb the fear and shame we felt became our hiding place.

Life in recovery is about living in truth, and the truth is that on our own our hearts are vulnerable.
