Meditations on "Recovery"

When we were in the pit of our addiction God pursued us with His love and brought us out of darkness and despair into His wonderful light.

When we look around at the lifestyle of others we may become disheartened by assuming they live problem-free lives.

For many of us life sometimes seems like innumerable strings all tangled and knotted together.

When we are troubled and looking for help, who or what first enters our mind?

Our former lifestyle in addiction and destructive life habits was harsh and difficult.

Do feelings of inferiority keep us from serving God and living life to the full?

In the areas of eating, exercise, rest, sexual activity or substance abuse, how am I choosing to honour God with my body?

How are we expected to know what is right? How do we know what is wrong?

Even though we may desire to walk with God and follow His ways, we will still need God’s help to accomplish that goal.

See to it, brothers and sisters, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God.

What a refreshing feeling it is to be free from the guilt of our addiction and dependencies.
