Meditations on "Recovery"

As we complete step work we answer lots of questions about what needs surrendering, what barriers keep us from surrendering, and what surrender looks like for each of us.

Turning our will and our life over to the care of God always involves action.

In Step 3 of the 12 Step Program we determine to turn our will and our life over to the care of God as we understand him.

Many of us, when we come into recovery, are physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually weak.

When we come into a recovery program everything is new to us.

Audio for Addiction and the Power to Change (2) When we come to understand that our life is unmanageable and we need a power greater that ourselves to overcome our addictions, we seek help through programs, ministries and strategies that have been proven to help others who have been where we are right now.

When we came to the realization that we were powerless over our dependencies and that our life had become unmanageable we knew then that we needed help.

When we think that we are so great that we can do recovery alone we need to share our thoughts with a trusted friend or mentor.

Surrendering our minds to the Lordship of Jesus Christ brings peace to our whole being.

My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience.

Honor your father and mother. Then you will live a long, full life in the land the Lord your God will give you.

Life in addiction is an expression of the breakdown of honour and respect in relationships that God created us to experience and enjoy.
