Meditations on "Recovery"

Living in addiction is living emotionally unavailable to God, to others, and to ourselves.

When we came into recovery we admitted that our lives were unmanageable and we needed a power greater than ourselves to restore us to sanity.

Too many of us continue to drive our vehicles while distracted by cell phones or other things that capture our attention.

After living so long in the self-centered world of addiction, it’s not easy to come into recovery and build relationships with other human beings, particularly those who like us have lived in self-centered ways.

To the person who pleases him, God gives wisdom, knowledge and happiness, but to the sinner he gives the task of gathering and storing up wealth to hand it over to the one who pleases God.

We are not very far into our recovery program when we come face to face with Step Four which asks us to make a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves.

Faith and hope in God are foundational to a positive outlook on life in recovery.

When making decisions in life, God tells us to first seek His counsel and then do what He says is right.

What a refreshing feeling it is to be free from the guilt of our addiction and dependencies.

The Bible tells us that love is patient. How many of us would profess to be patient?

I am responsible. When anyone, anywhere, reaches out for help, I want the hand of AA always to be there.
