Meditations on "Recovery"

On pages 83-84 of the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous we read twelve promises that will happen as we diligently work the twelve steps.

Jesus says: “I am the way, the truth, and the life.

Recovery meetings have common formats from place to place and there is structure to the way things are done.

Judging others is a problem area for many of us and something that Jesus tells us needs to change if we are to live well in recovery and in life.

T Often when we come into recovery we miss our old way of life and the people we socialized with.

Living in addiction is chaotic. A person is never at peace either in mind or body.

One of our first priorities in recovery is sorting our life practices according to the truth.

Employers negotiate work contracts with individuals and unions.

We feel many things in recovery. Some negative and others positive.

Just for today I will be joyful, optimistic, and grateful.

Powerful people harass me without cause, but my heart trembles only at your word.

We come into recovery because we are tired and worn out from the physical and emotional consequences of a lifestyle of addiction and the destruction it imposes.
