Meditations on "Recovery"

We may not see what goes on inside us, but the Bible tells us there is a battle going on for control of our minds.

When we come to faith in God and repent of our sins and receive forgiveness through the shed blood of Jesus, we are “born again” as Jesus says we must be.

Step 5 of the 12-Step program of AA asks that we admit to God, to ourselves, and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs.

We feel guilty for all sorts of reasons. When we were running wild in our addiction, we were not even aware of the harm we were causing.

When we give our will and life over to the care of God, we often refer to it as coming out of darkness into light.

Planning gives us peace in our hearts knowing that we have reviewed the specifics of how to get to where we are going and what we need to do to get there.

While He was on earth, Jesus taught many things and made many statements about the Kingdom of Heaven.

In our addiction, long periods of isolation became a way of life for us.

After living so long in the self-centered world of addiction, it’s not easy to come into recovery and build relationships with other human beings, particularly those who have lived in self-centered ways just like us.

Each day in recovery is another opportunity to learn and grow.
