Meditations on "Recovery"

Some of the most welcome phrases in life and certainly in recovery circles are, "One day at a time" or "Just for today.

The Bible makes it clear that God detests lying. Most of the time we did not speak the truth.

"Live and let live" is one of those slogans that encourages us to consider if our desire for control is becoming an issue we need to deal with.

Often, when we come into recovery, we have no sense of why our life problems took us down the road of addiction.

Many of us got caught up in addiction because of our inability to deal with the pain and harm inflicted on us by those who did not treat us as they should have.

Rarely have we seen a person fail who has thoroughly followed our path .

After years of listening to other’s harsh and condemning words about us, it’s wonderful to have an opportunity to experience the affirmation of God and to be reminded that as we walk with Him, He is pleased with us.

When we have spent some time in recovery from active addiction, one of the amazing transformations we experience is that we have learned to become more self-supporting.

The encouragement to “grow-up” and do things for ourselves is evident from the time we are born.

Common sense and wisdom are learned in many ways. We are encouraged to pursue habits that draw wisdom into our daily living and interactions with others.

Our pride often keeps us from asking for what we need.
