Meditations on "Recovery"

The contrast of destructive self-centeredness in active addiction with the healthy lifestyle of supporting one another in recovery is clearly expressed in Promise 7 of AA: We will lose interest in selfish things and gain interest in our fellows.

Who is more resourceful than an addict in need? Desperation really fuels the ability to find quick and clever ways to overcome difficulties.

God is kind and compassionate. Knowing and believing that God tenderly watches over us with compassion in whatever circumstances we are in will allow our hearts to be filled with peace as we navigate vulnerable days in recovery.

When we realized our powerlessness over our dependency and came into recovery, our daily routine started to change.

To cope with living an addictive lifestyle we often repressed our moral thinking and denied the downward trend we were on.

The new birth we receive when we give our will and life over to the care of God is the end of our old life dominated by sinful thoughts, formed in an unspiritual mind.

Canada is a nation founded on principles that honour the God who created us.

God wants our lives to be filled with fruitfulness.

In Tradition 6 of AA we are given guidelines lest “problems of money, property and prestige divert us from our primary purpose.
