Meditations on "Relationship"

“I am a walking miracle” is a slogan we often hear said in recovery meetings.

Whether it is a group of bullies on a school playground or an abusive partner behind closed doors, it is never right for one person to force their agenda or desires on another.

We come into recovery because we recognize we are powerless over addictive substances, people, or things that we have become dependent on to sustain life as we know it.

Emotions, stress, illness, troubles in a relationship, or just talking about the past can trigger an obsession in us to relapse.

Too many of us carry a harsh picture of God and believe He looks for ways to be displeased with us.

Today is a day to honour fathers. Some of us are fathers.

Whether we admit it or not, we all long for someone to listen to and care for us.

We all long to be genuine and sincere in our relationship with God and with others and yet we often find ourselves being fake and insincere.

Living life with God in recovery is a learning process.

Becoming willing to live each day in a new way is a challenge for those of us who are used to running our own lives and doing our own thing.

It’s easy for us to become discouraged and feel sorry for ourselves when life doesn’t go the way we think it should.

We seldom have a day when we are not worried about something.
