Meditations on "Surrender"

The Big Book of AA describes the significance of our problem with selfishness in this way: "There often seems no way of entirely getting rid of self without His [God's] aid.

God’s way is simple. Like little children trust the good and caring hearts of their parents so, in our new life with God in recovery, we need to believe that God is good and act accordingly.

When we first come into recovery, we tend to focus on our past behaviour and the things we have done wrong.

When some of us first came into recovery, we were so thankful to get away from the chaos of our addictive lifestyle that we were ready to do whatever it took to be free from the person we had become.

We want friends and family to be faithful to us and to be dependable to do what they promise.

God created humans to live forever in loving relationship with Him.

God never intended that we would know evil, let alone experience it.

In our new life with God in recovery, can people depend on us when we give them our word or do they need a court order to enforce what we already said we would do?

When we let confusion reign in our minds we live as though in turbulent waters, allowing ourselves to be tossed about like the waves of the sea.

God’s attention and artistic skill in our lives did not end the day we were born.

God invites us to live each day consciously obeying His spiritual principles as recorded in the Bible.

We are just a few days into the new year. We look to this coming year with renewed hope.
