Meditations on "Temptation"

Happy New Year! Really? Some of us may have woken up this morning to the fact that our lives are unmanageable and that we are powerless over our addictive behaviour.

What tools am I using to help me assess, reflect, learn, and grow in my recovery?

There is good news for those who have struggled with addiction for an extended period of time.

On Remembrance Day we honour veterans who fought for peace and freedom in World Wars, the Korean War, and more recently in Middle East conflicts.

You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in your bottle.

Today we hear so much profanity in music, in movies, on the street, and in print that it almost seems it’s the normal way to talk.

Someone has said, “Deception is the first device of the devil.

Because we are God’s beloved creation, we are the target of the devil’s agenda every day.

Many people believe that freedom to act as they choose gives them the opportunity to have the most control over their own lives.

We make ourselves vulnerable to relapse when we are willing to dwell on harmful thoughts and desires for activities that previously led us astray.

Every year the city of Vancouver, BC hosts "The Sun Run" and thousands of folks participate.

While we lived in our old way of life we were hemmed in by the demands of our addiction and the guilt that accompanied it.
