Meditations on "Truth"

Many of us face a new year wondering about the unknown.

In the Bible we read of many festivals that the people of Israel celebrated because God had intervened on their behalf.

As we prepare our hearts for the celebration of Christ’s birth, some of us may have negative memories and regrets about past Christmases.

We all know that staying sober starts with not picking up a drink or our drug of choice, or returning to whatever our destructive habit was.

As kids many of us sang an action song with the words, “The head bone connected to the neck bone, the neck bone connected to the shoulder bone” and on and on down the bones to the toes.

The hustle and bustle of Christmas shopping and related events is in full swing.

One day when Jesus was at a dinner party given by a religious leader an uninvited woman with a bad reputation in the community entered the room.

Our lives in addiction were often shaped by characteristics of impatience and selfishness.

Many people believe that freedom to act as they choose gives them the opportunity to have control over their own lives.

We all long for the joy and comfort of being in a loving intimate relationship with another.

We have all done things we are not proud of. Some of us think we’ve done more harm than others, done worse things than them, or continued for longer than they did.

Once we have cleaned up our lives from all past involvement in destructive and addictive practices we are home free for a life of joy and peace and blessing, right?
