Meditations on "Powerless"

Life in recovery is about living in truth, and the truth is that on our own our hearts are vulnerable.

Most of us think that we would be living happy and contented lives today if we had never known adversity and heartache.

We came into recovery because life as we knew it was not working.

When Jesus was here on earth He spoke clearly about our tendency to worry.

Coming to terms with our lifestyle in addiction requires us to admit that, where our dependencies are involved, we have zero self-control.

Stress has become a universal problem and many medical professionals consider it an underlying cause of numerous health issues.

The Bible is a wonderful source of support for us and contains many stories about the compassion Jesus showed to those He encountered.

Why do we continue to do things our own way when it obviously isn’t working?

At what point in our lives did we desire to improve our conscious contact with God?

How encouraging it is for us to know that God is on our side and God always does what He promises.

We say it over and over again because it is true every day of our life: “We are powerless on our own.

We all go through times in our lives when we feel the sky is falling and we are unable to do anything about it.
