Meditations on "Recovery"

Your word, Lord, is eternal; it stands firm in the heavens.

“Trusting that You will make all things right if I surrender to Your will” Hillsong, one of the world’s leading contributors to praise and worship music, has given us a song that seems to describe this sentence from the Serenity Prayer.

How do we enter into this friendship relationship with God that makes life safe and satisfying and guarantees us life, beyond the grave, in heaven?

God has given us spiritual friends who will walk with us in our journey in recovery.

Those living in destructive lifestyles of addiction are unable to sustain healthy friendships over time.

Some of us slid into destructive and addictive lifestyles out of a desire to belong and have friends and companions.

My soul faints with longing for your salvation, but I have put my hope in your word.

God’s guidance for living life to the full is clearly laid out in rules and principles found in the Bible.

Most of us are well aware of the damage we did to ourselves, our families, and to others in the community when we disregarded God’s authority and tried to do things our own way.

Learning to live with God in recovery is challenging to say the least.

Who can we trust? Who's reliable? Who tells the truth?
