Meditations on "Recovery"

When some of us became aware that our lives were on a dark downward pathway, we chose to admit that we were powerless over our dependency and our lives were unmanageable.

In recovery circles, some of us know what it is like to live in plenty and others of us have experienced what it is like to live in poverty.

We can dare to be optimistic about life and our recovery because God's unconditional love will strengthen and build us up.

Our anticipation of events is positive when we expect something good is about to happen such as, going out to a show, taking a holiday trip, or doing something we really like to do.

Recovery begins when we come to our senses and affirm that we are powerless over alcohol or some other substance or habit, and our lives have become unmanageable.

To be “relapse proof” we must be fully surrendered to a life that prioritizes God’s will in all we think, say, and do.

When we accept Jesus’ death as payment for the sins we have committed, we are freed from the punishment of sin and are given a fresh start.

SIf we seek God, He will have good plans for us, even in desperate times.

Low self-esteem is a negative sense of one's worth or ability to cope or do well in life.

In just a few hours the new calendar year will be upon us.
