Meditations on "Recovery"

Some of us lost our way in childhood because of unfortunate events that happened to us or happened around us.

Powerful people harass me without cause, but my heart trembles only at your word.

All who listen to me will live in peace, untroubled by fear of harm.

The daily practice of speaking with God in prayer and meditating on His word is the blueprint that will help build our lives with God in recovery.

From the beginning God has known us. It is God’s desire that we walk safe and secure in the conscious awareness of His great love and care for us.

In the past, many of us primarily identified ourselves by the names people called us or by the labels they put on us.

I pray with all my heart; answer me, Lord! I will obey your decrees.

To give our will and our lives over to the care of God requires that we develop a whole new way of thinking and believing.

Life is a gift. Our new life in recovery is not something we earn but something we are given.

Many of us who have experienced destructive lives in addiction have known the experience of being an “outsider”, of not really belonging, of feeling distanced or detached.

O Lord, you are righteous, and your regulations are fair.

When we were living for our own self-interest and feeding our addictions, it was easy to become consumed by our own wants or needs.
